My Review

What is this generation's favorite sport in India? Without doubt we will say, cricket. Cricket has been the favorite sport in India for the past few decades or from 1984 when India won the world cup for the first time, so to say. Medium fast and Furious is the anecdote of Raju Prabhakar,, Teenager in the 90's. Everything in the 90s evoke nostalgia in me, since I was a student in the same era.

Raju's  prediclection towards cricket could be understood by majority of Indians since there would be very less Indians who haven't felt the adrenaline pump while hearing Sachinnnn Sachin. The book is a quirky account of Raju's life with cricket. A children's book ought to connect with them and author succeeded in this.

If the book is a fashion show, the show stopper would be the thread where Raju and Gopal extend their grudge over a girl and the climax of the same. In that single chapter author conveyed a lot of messages. How friendship is affected with jealousy, how friends should shed their egos and get along, how friends should understand the line that they should never cross.

The book has everything cricket, friendship, love(puppy love as author puts forth), discrimination etc. The book is a mirror to kids in this era who are brought up under the wings of their parents, protected and insulated from rejections and failures. This book might empower them so that they would be inspired to handle disappointments in a better way. What impressed me the most is the narration. The languae used by the author is stupendous, in comparison to that of the saw called bestsellers for adults.
