Interview with Chuck Barrett author of Disruption

Hai everyone, Today we have the author of Disruption, Chuck Barrett

Hi Chuck thank you for being a part of my virtual tete a tete
So,
What genre do you write and why?

When I started reading as an adult, I was fascinated with Tom Clancy's first works, specifically Red Storm Rising. At that point I was hooked on thrillers. I read all of Clancy's stuff and then moved on to other authors who wrote thrillers. It seemed only natural when the desire to write took over, that I write what I loved to read.

My Review

For the ease of reviewing a book can be divided into three sections- Beginning , plot and climax. For this book it is impossible to give a general review since the three sections of the book have three graphs. The beginning of the book is like a 90s movie concentrating more on the relations, and the toiling of common man. The father- daughter relation is celebrated well. The character Vaibhav Kulkarni is developed stage by stage. His affection towards his daughter, his separation with his wife and his inability to cope up with official politics have been portrayed effectively.

As the plot develops the reality and terror of kid's pressure, and depression elaborates the storyline. Vaibhav's daughter Nisha, who is the Apple of everyone's eyes, plunges into the pit of depression, making his world topsy turvy. Unable to comprehend the sudden change in his daughter, Vaibhav decides to take his daughter to meet Rihanna, Nisha's idol. Further what happens need to be read.

Language of the book is simple yet enchanting. A sincere attempt to bring the readers close to earth. The basic storyline seems normal and repeated but the events are connected well. The concentration of the whole storyline falls on the father-daughter duo and the rest of the characters take a complete backseat. The climax of the story disappointed me though it was expected.

If you are expecting a book which is close to reality, this is the best. There are no unexpected twists or thrilling cliffhangers but there are some moments which remind you of your life with your father.

My Review

When I started reading the book, I had decided on the opening line- "Will you judge me if I say I love this book and give a five star."
I enjoyed the book till I was half way through the book. But thenceforth,  the book became the clich├ęd romantic lit with the overused formulas of triangular friendship entangled tale.

Three youngsters Sashank, Abhay and Unnati set out on an extraordinary trip in Abhay's Ford Ecosport. Idea, conceived by Abhay, to accomplish an adventurous trip of 10000 kilometers around India, with a list of twenty five places which represent our country's culture, heritage and beauty. While Abhay brushes up his talent with camera, Unnati lends her voice and face. The final nail is the selfies they take at the twenty five places with the number placard.

The roadtrippers' experiences at different places are interesting to read. Author has provided several tips as what to do and what not but when the storyline took a romantic twist, the focus was shifted from the places and landmarks. With perspicuous narration, dexterous character craft and unique theme, author has succeed in hooking the readers to the book.

There were a few offensive statements, atleast that's what I felt. "It's difficult to see a man cry". Why man only? What about women?
The terms like potato, fatty etc could have been avoided in the narration at least.

The story ended in a good note. Nothing unexpected but simple and sweet anyways.

My Review

While I started reading the book, the first thought that came to my mind is that it's old wine in New bottle.  The same old formula of boys having fun- booze, puffs, gals. This kept me wondering if there is no other aim for the teenagers other than these. After a few pages rather chapters, the narration became more focussed.

My Review

The epic Ramayana has been interpreted in various dimensions lately. There has been attempts to depict Ramayana from different characters' outlooks. The liberation of Sita is a collection of five short stories. Each story is Sita's association with four female characters in Ramayana- Surpanakha, Renuka, Ahalya and Urmila. These are the minor characters which were forgotten under the larger than life story of the great righteous man who set out to save his wife. Authoress is trying to put forth the fact that woman need not be protected. She should be empowered to protect herself. Authoress, in Sita's words condemns the societal tendency to portray woman as a weak gender. She tried to put forth the ancient tale in today's light.
